How does it work?
When you miss a call, the app sends an automatic SMS reply to the caller within seconds — using your own phone number and your own SMS plan. You set the message once, flip the switch on, and the app runs quietly in the background. Caller knows they've been heard, you've got their number ready for when you're free to call back.
Will it use my SMS allowance?
Yes — the SMS comes from your phone, through your normal mobile plan. Most NZ plans include unlimited SMS, so it won't cost you extra. If you're on prepaid or a limited plan, each auto-reply uses one SMS the same as any other text you send.
Do I need a new phone number?
No. The app uses your existing number. Your caller sees the reply come from you, not some random virtual number. No call forwarding, no porting, nothing to set up with your telco.
Does it work on iPhone?
Not yet — the app is Android only. Apple's iPhone doesn't allow apps to detect missed calls or send automatic SMS replies, which is the core of what this app does. If you're on iPhone and need missed-call recovery, take a look at our AI Receptionist service which works on any phone.
Does the app keep running when my phone screen is off?
Yes — the app uses a background service that runs all the time. You'll see a small "Auto-reply is on" notification in your phone's notification bar so you know it's working. On some phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei especially) you'll need to exclude the app from battery optimisation — the app walks you through this on first launch.
What phones does it work on?
Any Android phone running Android 8.0 or newer (released 2017 onwards). That covers nearly every Android phone in use today — Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, OPPO, Xiaomi, Huawei, Motorola, and others.
What if the same person calls me three times in a row — will they get three replies?
No. The app waits at least 3 hours before sending another auto-reply to the same number. So a customer who tries you a few times won't get spammed — they get one reply that says you'll get back to them
Will it auto-reply to my mum, my mates, or my suppliers?
Only if you want it to. You can add any number to your personal blacklist and the app will skip it. Most tradies set this up during onboarding so family, mates, and regular suppliers don't get the auto-reply.
Can I customise the message?
Yes — write whatever you want. Use your own name, mention your trade, set expectations for when you'll call back. The Pro plan unlocks 5 templates (different messages for work hours, after hours, weekends, holidays, and one-offs) plus AI replies that personalise the message for each caller.
Where is my data stored?
On your phone, full stop. The app doesn't send your call log, your customers' numbers, or your messages to any cloud server. Everything stays local. If you uninstall the app, the data goes with it. The Team plan adds an optional web dashboard for businesses with multiple phones — that's the only time data leaves your device, and only with your permission.
